VIVIENNE WESTWOOD
Known for her unconventional silhouettes and punk-rock undertones, Vivienne Westwood celebrates the bride who wants a couture gown with an edge.
Few names have shaped modern bridal fashion quite like Vivienne Westwood. Instantly recognisable for her signature corsetry, sculptural draping, and unmistakable sense of romance, the house has become synonymous with some of the world's most iconic corseted Basque waist wedding dresses. Combining centuries-old tailoring techniques with a distinctly contemporary perspective, Vivienne Westwood's collection of contemporary wedding gowns offers a bold alternative to traditional bridal wear.
Each gown is crafted by hand using lower-impact fabrics in their luxury London atelier. Bloom houses the largest collection of Vivienne Westwood pieces in Australia and we are proud to have been stocking her made-to-order bridal collection since 2023.

Lady
Inspired by the Court dress of the Spring-Summer 2012 collection, ‘War and Peace’, renowned for its exaggerated, armour-like corset, the Lady gown draws from the grandeur of the Second French Empire. The elongated silhouette and tightly cinched basque waistline celebrate couture craftsmanship, highlighting impeccable proportions and exquisite detailing. The off-shoulder neckline is delicately gathered using the Westwood ‘bubble’ pattern technique, while V-shaped yokes define the waist. The skirt unfolds in a sumptuous cascade of fabric, marrying sculptural drama with refined, romantic elegance.
Maverick
The Maverick dress presents a masterfully draped asymmetric silhouette, where carefully placed volumes sculpt a striking hourglass figure. A structured, sideswiped pleated skirt conceals a hidden side slit, while the fabric on the bust folds like delicate petals, creating a bold interplay of form and movement. Embodying the unmistakable DNA of the house, the Maverick is a statement of modern elegance and craftmanship. This design is offered in three fabric variations, each enhancing its sculptural effect.
Darling
The Darling dress weaves together influences from the Marie Antoinette gown of the 2021 Bridal Couture collection, and the Chichi dress from the Spring-Summer 2025 collection. Crafted for the modern bride, its silhouette is rich in intricate construction. A twisted drape graces the bust, forming a soft sweetheart neckline, while a dropped waist corset gently sculpts the hourglass figure. The multi-layered tulle skirt floats like a delicate cloud, both ethereal and light. Offered in tulle layered over fine Chantilly lace or in the Presence of Bloomsprinted tulle, the gown evokes the romance of a secret garden in full bloom
Charmer
The Charmer dress offers playful charm, with understated elegance. The fabric wraps asymmetrically across the bodice, subtly revealing the corset beneath, while the skirt features gentle opposing pleats that enhance movement. The flute skirt skims the hips, before flowing into a soft, almond-shaped train. A removable jewellery-inspired piece, drawn from the house’s signature Broken Pearls motif, adorns the neckline, shoulders, and back, adding a touch of opulence to the modern design.
Vixen
The Vixen corset reimagines signature elements of the archival Ball Tie gown, with modern, romantic sensibility. Light stretch satin cascades over a structured corset, sculpting the décolletage, while draping gently across the torso. Two detachable lengths of fabric offer versatile styling, sweeping across the arms, tying at the back, or floating as a neck scarf - allowing the gown to transform with every movement.
Nova Cora Mini
The Nova Cora Mini draws inspiration from the signature Nova Cora silhouette, featuring a soft sweetheart neckline that shapes the corseted bodice. The design features the house’s archival asymmetric 'Cocotte skirt', elegantly cascading from a basque waist, wrapping around the hips and gently falling into a subtle train at the back. Please note that our sample is available in the Absence of Rose fabric.
Mabel
The rounded regal neckline of the Mabel sweeps elegantly across the shoulders, over a classic corset silhouette that cinches at the waist. The style marries elements of the popular Nova Cocotte and Cora Cocotte gowns, with the bodice echoing the neckline shape of both styles.
The gown features a delicately draped skirt, complete with a cascading train, lending the style an air of opulence. The design is finished with a sultry side-slit, creating an elongated figure. The Mabel is offered in a pearl white heavy silk satin, or in an opaline silk cady.
Galaxy Cape
The Galaxy Cape dress takes inspiration from the classic Ball Tie design, complete with an 18th-century Watteau style detachable cape, which echoes the bodice drape for added drama. The style is offered in a crepe satin fabric this year, available in pearl white and ultra black colourways.
Tabitha
The Nova Bagatelle is a gown inspired by the iconic blindfolded bride from the 1997 collection, ‘Vive La Bagatelle.’ This style, already part of the Classic Carryovers collection in recycled Double Duchesse, is now offered in both Faille and Moire - which lends the style a softer silhouette. The Nova Bagatelle offers a regal silhouette, complete with a cinched waist and romantic neckline – elevated with draped fabric sweeping across the shoulders.
The full skirt features deep pleats and hidden pockets, removable inner panniers on the hips and a long almond shaped train with a built-in bustling system. Style with the Joe Petticoat underneath for added volume. Style with sleeves, gloves, veils or Fichu blouse. Wear with matching Elizabeth Sleeves and Galatea train for a truly regal look.
Mini Bagatelle
The Mini Bagatelle is a new development of the popular Nova Bagatelle, inspired by the iconic blindfolded bride from the Spring-Summer 1997 collection, ‘Vive La Bagatelle.’ The gown creates a regal silhouette with a cinched waist and a romantic, off-the-shoulder draped neckline. This year, the style is offered as a mini skirt, featuring deep pleats. The Mini Bagatelle is offered in three fabrications this year, in double duchesse, faille and Moire fabrics.
Nova Grace
First designed for the red carpet, the Nova Grace gown in ivory soft stretch satin is timeless. The figure-hugging pencil skirt and overskirt, which adds extra volume give the gown dimension. With a removeable off the shoulder strap, the corset can be altered to create an asymmetric look.
Nova Camille
Nova Cocotte
The Nova Cocotte is a gown with great historical influence, first designed for the Autumn-Winter 2005/06 Vive La Cocotte collection. The corset and neckline are inspired by fashionable high society women of the 18th-century – which sweeps across the shoulders and cinches at the waist. The skirt falls from the hip in a soft slim A-line, folding and flowing delicately to create a drape reminiscent of ancient Greek statues.
For 2024, the Nova Cocotte is available in a pearl white heavy silk satin fabric, or in silk cady for brides who prefer a fabric with a more subtle shine.
As a reinterpretation of the iconic ‘Bird of Paradise’ dress, which originally appeared in the Spring-Summer 2005 Gold Label show – Ultra Femininity, the Tabitha encapsulates the grandeur of the Baroque age. The layering of drapes in the upper part of the gown flows into a delicately bias-cut circle skirt revealing a side slit, remaining faithful to Vivienne’s approach of celebrating femininity. The Tabitha is available in Faille, or Moire – offered in either ivory or black colourways.
Nova Bagatelle
The original Camille corset was first seen in the Vivienne Westwood Autumn-Winter 1987/88 Harris Tweed collection and forms the upper of the Nova Camille dress. This reinterpretation for 2024 is adapted with a structured slim A-line skirt, folding in at the centre back and flowing into a sweeping train. Available in a NAIA heavy stretch satin – styled here with classic satin opera gloves.
Nova Rhea
Featuring transformative elements, the customisable Nova Rhea has a removeable train. With expertly corseted, minimal drapery, the Rhea nips in at the hips and is finished with a subtle mermaid train. Optional sleeves in matching fabric complete the look.
Galaxy
The Galaxy, originally created for the red carpet, features a cinched waist and draped neckline inspired by the classic Vivienne Westwood Ball Tie gown - finished with a skirt reminiscent of ancient Greek statues. The corset features a sparkling draped panel, embellished with astral silver Swarovski crystals.
Nova Cora
The Nova Cora takes inspiration from the seminal Vivienne Westwood archive Cocotte silhouette. It features a sculpting corset, with reduced drapery around the neckline and across the hips to create a cascading asymmetrical train at the back.

The basque waist - that deeply elongated, cinched waistline that the house is famous for - is one of the most flattering silhouettes in bridal gowns. It creates an extraordinary hourglass shape and works on a genuinely wide range of body types. Brides who try it on for the first time almost always have a moment! The basque waist appears across several styles in the collection including the Lady, Nova Bagatelle, Nova Cocotte, Nova Camille and so many others. It's very much the Vivienne Westwood signature and one of the main reasons brides seek the brand out. If it's on your radar, please try it on - it wears so differently (but beautifully!) on each and every body!
-
It's your wedding day and absolutely the time to bring the drama! That said, the collection is broader than the theatrical pieces suggest - styles like the Nova Cora, Nova Grace (a timeless ivory column gown in soft stretch satin) and the Charmer all offer something more quietly elegant than the grand ball gowns. Vivienne Westwood bridal is really about couture craftsmanship and depth of history - not every piece is a spectacle, but every piece is exceptional. Come in and we'll find your version of drama fit for your wedding.
-
The house has a strong commitment to sustainability and all bridal gowns are crafted using lower-impact fabrics in their London atelier. Vivienne Westwood, as a brand, has long championed slow fashion and ethical production and that ethos runs through the bridal collection. For brides who care about the environmental and ethical story behind their gown, Vivienne Westwood is worth knowing about.
